Because I type very little and I do a lot of cut and paste. Sometimes I have to move forward a few feet to even see my keyboard, I put it on the file cabinet in front of me some times to keep the baby from tipping it on himself. I find switching between mouse and keyboard cumbersome.

However if that's the case with the arrow it's OK. I'm at work now with the old version... if you try to enter a sub folder of a site you already have bookmarked do you get arrow?

yes you do. like your on wowultra.com/ and then paste in "forum" you get the arrow.

i use the mouse a lot too. thank god for an onscreen keyboard as well for the things you can't can't do with a mouse, i just lay back and click away, although typing something long is too much, its great for most every thing else, i'd be lost without one.

What causes some of the text functions to be missing with FF?

Gotta say - I've never used IE and never will.

When I started with computers, there was DARPA, ARPA, Telenet and Compuserve. When the www came into being, I started using Netscape, then, after they went to AOL, I migrated to Firefox.

I have also migrated from S100 bus/CP/M systems to DOS, then forced to Win3.1, to Win98se. When I was forced to upgrade from 98, I moved to iMac and haven't looked back!

Oh, when it comes to the differences between what does and doesn't show in various browsers, I think the main reason is that nobody wants to follow the w3 standards - they all want special options that force people to use their product.

Kinda like mickysquish gone wild.

(Sorry, I promised myself I wouldn't rant on this forum. Lied again!)

Wow my story about netscape is the similar.. the minute they started putting AIM as part of their product is when I left.

I have to use all browsers and I'm afraid to try a Mac. I'm sure I would like it!

If you don't like the quirkyness of Windows (and I have yet to hear that Vista is any improvement), you would appreciate the Mac - and the new Intel OS allows you to run Windows and OSX side by side - I was even able to load 98se onto my iMac before my trial of VMWare expired (I will buy and register VMWare as soon as I can scrape the $$ together).

I use Slimbrowser, IE with less of IE's faults and many extras. Never freezes on me, which makes a change.

It's certainly worth a look if you don't mind a browser based on IE. Personally I love it. Has a spell checker, controls popups the way I want it to, auto login files, different languages, all sorts of things, some of them I don't know what they do but they sound good.:)

Ok, so due to the ravings of you guys I decided to give Firefox a whirl. OMG! I am so in love with it - why did I stick with IE for so long? My only real issue is that I also downloaded Thunderbird (email program) and cannot seem to get it to retrieve my MSN mail... anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on getting it to work?

I might have a look at TB myself. If the spam ontrols are better than Outlook then it has to be worth a try.
