Hello!  I'm a WoWBB user and happened to check out this site.  While I'm happy with the WoW board I have, I like the improvements that this software has made, and am intersted in switching.  I do have a few questions, however.

I rented the software from the other site (it's hosting for me too.) How easy would a transition be to this format? (I imagine not too hard.)

There are some additions I'd like to make to my site, but I personally am still a novice at this sort of thing.  How hard is it to make modifications to this board?

How does reliability compare?  (I'd also be interested in hosting services.)

How difficult is it to x-fer my domain to Go Daddy? (I think this was the registration you guys used.)

Can I have a different look/color scheme to the new board, yet preserve the members/posts from the old site?

Hello walkerboh,

Thank you for your interest in WowUltra!

As it turns out a majority of our customers are ex WowBB users, we have a database converter and the transition is usually painless.

I'm assuming you got your domain name through WowBB also-

When we assume a domain name it usually takes about 10 days which is unfortunate, but there is no interruption in service. We transfer it with the nameservers the same. If you want hosting also we will have to transfer the domain name first before we can move you to our servers. Domain name transfers are free with any hosting package.

When we convert the database you get all the users, categories, forums, posts, pm's. The look and feel along with the added features will be different.

You might want to more closely define reliability... do you mean the software it's self or the hosting or..?

We retained the theme/style sheet editor which most users find rather easy to use, if there is anything you need help with all you have to do is ask.

Have you started a free trial board yet? :)

Hello walkerboh :)

What kind of modifications are you looking for? By popular demand, we will soon offer help in modifications.

On top of that, Jim and I are constantly in mod development to make Ultra a better board for everyone. If you have any suggestions in what you'd like to see, feel free to offer them :)

WowUltra comes stocked with quite a few different themes. We will also soon offer a custom theme service (also by popular demand).

Feel free to take advantage of our trial board to test out our features and different themes :)

If you have any more questions, dont hesitate to ask :)

Di

I'll try to respond to both responses.  Thanks for the quick answers BTW:)

The reliability question was mainly for hosting servers.  (I'm interested in hosting service too)

As for the domain, since I have a small membership currently (It's a fairly new board and I haven't actively advertised it yet) the web address doesn't have to remain the same.  So the 10-day wait doesn't need to be an issue.

There were only a couple modifications I was interested in making.  The simple one would be a replacement of the W/U icons in front of forums with a football-themed icon.  The other one I was interested in adding would be some sort of flash arcade page accessible to certain member groups (ie. VIP subscription group).  While I have other discussion areas that cater to offseason topics, I'd like to add some extra entertainment if I can find a way to do so.

Otherwise, I've played with the trial boards and like the enhancements from WoWBB.

The W/U icons can easily be replaced. just make sure your new icons are the same size as the current ones. when youre ready to switch icons, i can walk you thru it, if youd like :)

Jim has a basic arcade mod that we used on our personal board. He is more capable of giving you more info on that the next time he's online :)

There has been multiple requests recently for an arcade style mod, I'll have to take a look at mine and see if it can be fit in to WowUltra board!

Do you have an array of games you have already viewed?

As for the hosting, it is flying now but in the beginning we had some difficulties that turned out to be a bad network cable of all things.

We had a few startup problems with the first server but it turned out to be a bad network cable of all things. The servers are monitored 24-7 for http transfers, meaning the minute something happens the data center is right on top of it. We are negotiating the second server and will have it up soon, I custom configure them personally to offer high performance for php/mysql apps. Every customer has a board, it is what we specialize in.

There are a couple key customers that have phone access also and If I'm not on line shortly after something happens they will contact me. We are trying to provide a more "personal" hosting service than the "top 10" places and I assure you the servers are more usable.

I'd definitely be interested in adding an arcade, and I know my members would appreciate it.

I have seen a few games on the free-flash sites that have caught my eye.  Most appear to offer an "embed" code.

Sounds like you're really invested personally into this.  That's a good sign in my book.  My mods and I are tooling through the test site, playing around with it.  So far the reviews are good.

I have requested an arcade addy myself and I'm sure that Jim will figure out a way to do it, the dude is like brilliant.  As for this software, being a novice myself but one with some experience with WowBB, this place so totally rocks above that version it's not even open for debate.

Add to that Jim and Di's "personal" touch vis a vis CS and what you have here is the makings of a great company and a terrific Board experience.  I keep telling Jim I want to do a Testimonial because I feel so strongly about this and I hope he will LISTEN! LOL!

Seriously, they're on top of things and I am extremely impressed and my membership, small (about 20 or so right now) have all told me they love the site.  The proof my friend, is in the pudding so buckle up because I'm sure Jim and Di will have much in store for us as time permits them and I whole heartedly look forward to growing with WowUltra moving forward.

Disclaimer: The above comments are un-solicited and solely the views and opinions of this customer (read me) just in case someone might think I was asked/paid/cajoled, etc...to post this. I was not. I just love what I've got and am very happy to support these two people as much as they will allow me to do.
