Hi i have a few presale questions.  I am looking for new software for a forum i plan to launch soon so im shopping around and this forum stands out.

I am familiar with the old wowbb software (and have been a customer their briefly) will wowultra have more updates? and what new features are planned?.

Also when purchased how does installing work? does it have a wizard like wowbb? done by ftp? or do i have to download it etc?.

Thanks for any help, the board looks impressive.:)

Hi Will,

Thank you for your interest in WowUltra. WowUltra is in a constant state of development. We try and get a new version out at least every other month, if not sooner.

We also take into account customer input and suggestions as to what they'd like to see in future releases. We even have a special area for License holders to add their input for the software.

We do have a new version being released very soon (before the end of the month). We are in the final stage of tweaking it for bugs right now.

When you purchase a license, we will send you your username and password for our private support area where you can either A) download the WowUltra software yourself or B) put in a request for Jim to install it for you.

If youre converting a WowBB board to Ultra, then Jim needs to do the install because of the conversion.

Di

Sounds good.

I have to ask about lifespan of the product, i noticed that there is no lease option, does life time cover major upgrades too?. If so how will the company make money in the years to come if they develop a loyal base and not much else?. Probably a strange question but my mind works in a strange way......

Hi Will,
That is a good question. We plan on developing premium themes that will have a price but be reasonable, and we always plan on doing custom modifications for specific purposes along with mods we don't plan on adding but will charge a nominal fee for the "plug in".

The lifetime license covers WowUltra only, we plan on developing other applications in the far future (about a year and a half) including a personal information manager, a chat solution and an e-mail client. These will be driven by the same ethics that fuels the development of Ultra.

Hope that explains it a little better.

It does yeah :) i think it would be worth considering to give a year lease option (like at wowbb just now). That would allow those weary about spending $99 to lease and increase potential income. I dont think its unethical - the opposite, some cannot afford $99.

I gotta ask this too.....when you begin developing other projects, you will still continue work here too?.

The lease option is something that we would have to work out with Aycan first.

The other projects are already currently under development but WowUltra takes first priority. It always will :)

That, my friend, is strictly up to Aycan :)

I don't think he would have to exercise any authority he does have because of trust to people he has allowed to massage his product. Basically he wrote the core code and we have respect for that as we should any other artist.

I don't exactly understand your concern?

Hi, i didnt think i was wording it clearly, say in the future for what ever reason Aycan decided he wanted this site gone does he have the authority to do that?.

Not really a concern just a thought, i tend to think in worst case senarios.

In the unlikely event Aycan were to want to dis continue Ultra as a franchise, we would still support the many customers we have and would still sell the package to licensed 1.7 users as an extreme modification package for WowBB 1.7. I really think you have nothing to worry about though, relax!

Well I am not one to brag on someone's work, oh wait yes I am. I have two license for this software and must admit it is the best I have used including previous wowBB software. Mine is installed on my own server space, but the install and maintenance of this software is fantastic. After setting up mySQL on my server and uploading the software to the directory I choose, setup was extremely simple. I had either of my forums up and running in about 20 minutes.

If you want to see my setups, if Jim has no problems;

1. http://eddycountynews.com/thenews/

2. http://desertphotos.net/events/

I completely recommend WowUltra
