I just now looked through my vBull forum and noticed that a good amount of members were bots..

I hope when I get WowUltra it'll stop those annoying bots from signing up.

I currently get a ton of members from either China or Germany, I trace their IP addresses.

We have a custom captcha style authentication routine built in. Has stopped everything so far, not one bot reported on any of the ultra boards since it was put in.

Jim is right. I'm currently running a modest 35-50 new signups per day and none to my knowledge have been bots.

I have not had even one bot or spam sign up on my The Biggest Boards forum. Not one. I used to get MANY before Ultra. Now...NONE. I love Ultra.

Anyone here remember the old days on our pre-Ultra software when we had to post daily updates of spammers? Thankfully that's not needed at all with Ultra.

That's my first job of the day, getting rid of the bots. What a complete and utter waste of my time. I have young people and a couple of lady members so I can't afford to leave them as some of the web content they bring with them is horrendous.

Well thankfully that's behind us now. I must admit we all had some nice posting sessions with it and a laugh at some of the names we came across during our daily cull of spammers, but I don't miss all that work getting rid of them, adding them to banned lists etc. We must have spent a couple of hours each per day checking them all.

Hi Bob,

On WowBB I was removing a couple of dozen bot registrations every day.

Since upgrading to WowUltra a couple of months ago, I haven't had a single one.

It was worth paying twice for the forum software for that alone. Everything else is a bonus! :)

regards,

Martin.

I bought it now, just am working on setting up the categories and forums.

Before I open it up for good.

The banner/logo is being requested for free. Good to know resource forums.

I even turned off activation emails as the spam prevention has been fool proof with no spam sign ups.
