My forum is semi public. There is a section that is hidden from all public members. Private members pay a fee for suppots and access to the full forum. I understand how to configure Wowultra to do this. But a normal member can access the My Accounts/Subscription tab and by paying the sub he would be moved into the paid member section so he would have access to the whole site. The problem is, access to the whole site is not only by paying a fee but also by invitation only. I need to keep the subscription option there so full members can resubscribe etc but how can I stop normal members from upgrading themselves. Can the subscription tab be hidden from normal members and only available to full members? Chris

Hi Chris, Welcome and thank you for your interest in Ultra! Anyhow that is an interesting question and I definitely see a use for limiting the subscriptions to certain user groups. It isn't a current feature but I like the concept so much I'm not only going to include it in the new version but if you want to get a license I'll modify yours to exclude unregistered, regular members (group2) and of course banned from seeing the tab or being able to get to the function. I can't limit it on a per subscription type easily but I can limit the function easily from certain groups. Jim

Fantastic, Thanks for the quick reply. At the moment I am running WowBB v1.7 How do I arrange for you to convert my existing WowBB forum, running on my own server, to WowUltra with the subscription mod. Also after conversion, if I move forums around and make some into sub forums will they still keep all the posts? and can the forums be moved from one category to another? Thanks Chris

Well first you would have to purchase a license. Upon that you will be sent an e-mail with your username and log in to private support. Post your current FTP details in there and we can transfer the files and update the database for you. All posts will be kept no matter what. Well unless you delete them... I can do the upload and conversion soon but it would be later tonight before I could do the exclusion mod. I need to test it first on our home server but exclusions by group are generally easy. I will need a list of groups preferably by group number if you have a lot of groups. Either that or a temporarya admin account so I can see the actual groups. Jim

Additional thought. If someone goes through the portal and pays subscription, it will automatically expire on the set date. I have had occurences where I moved someone to the user group that requires subscription, is there anyway to make it expire after a certain amount of time?

Welcome Chris. Many if no most of us here upgraded from WOW 1.7 and I can tell you that it's a seamless transition to Ultra. Almost everything in the admin panel works the same, plus some better options than before. Jim is very much on top of things regarding customer support, and future development of the software.

I am now using WowUltra. Even though my yearly subscription to wow 1.7 had only recently been paid. Wow refused to give me a refund but I still chose to move. It was the best decision I have made!

Welcome Lor from another former wowbb customer. We too had not long paid our subs but still wanted to move to Ultra. I am still awaiting a reply about selling our licence but then it was only 2 months ago I asked!! I am sure you will be pleased you made the change. Great software and support and lovely people.
