Heres what Im trying to do...

I went to the file manager and made a new folder, so that is now showing as in the broswer as http://www.northamericangoldwings.com/goldwinginfo . What I want to know is if there is a way for this page to use the existing themes? Basically I want this page to be the same as the main page minus the forums of course.

I know... I was wanting to know how to make the new page match the existing forum page theme. I hadnt gotten a reply, so I just deleted the goldwing info page. I have it back now, but there is not anything in the folder yet until I figure out how to carry the theme to the new page.

cant you adjust the header to have the same look and then incorporate the links.

You can use the same css sheet if you understand how.Meaning the page background, cells and such could be duped but you would need to know where to use what style.

Without tapping in to the includes stuff it would only read one theme though.

Nothing is impossible. If you have no knowledge of using CSS then this will prove to be frustrating.

I don't know what level you are on yet.

:?:?

Thats my level....

No big deal though.... Thats what the internet is for, I will read about CSS and see how dangerous I can get ;), or I might just go with something close to the main theme. I do know enough html to use the present background for the new page. I was just wanting to use the same buttons and all that to make it look more integrated.

If I understand what you want to do and duping the forum theme on a html page will suffice until you figure out css, then all you need is to make the page and set the background to use the same .gif image (page_bg.gif) as your forum theme uses. The path to it will be;

/forums/themes/name of theme you want to copy/page_bg.gif

Then just copy your header image and you should have a page that looks close enough to your theme. I hope this helps a bit.

Thats exactly how Im doing it Steve. I am just working on the button gifs to try to match the site as much as possible and also make navigating easier.

Ive done alot of HTMl page building, but I have never played with CSS and wouldnt even know where to start...

I do appreciate the tip...

Yes I agree with that Dean. CSS is like looking into a field for me and there is just never enough time to look at it properly.

Are you doing the links in the header Dean? If so, go to the Admin panel and then Themes>Templates and open the main_menu1 and add the links in with the other stock ones you see there. You will need to add them to main_menu2 as well if you want the links visible when logged in and logged out.

Ok, Im ripping out what little hair I have left here.

Where exactly do I put the code for my new pages, so everyone can see it, logged in or not?

I tried the dependant_main_templates.txt

I tried it in the beige theme main templates.txt in menu 1 and menu 2.

I know how to do it, just cant figure out where to put it. Id like to do it myself so Ill know next time.

:?

By the  way, I am using the side menus so the My account, members  and all of that is in a side menu box, incase that matters.

I'm guessing you are doing this in Notepad Dean. I'm not sure if it's different for side menus, but here is the main_templates.txt from my Beige theme and the main_menu1 and 2 highlighted in pink. In yellow highlight you can see the Photopost Gallery link is inserted in both so it's visible when logged in or out. I don't know if this will help for side menus...

Hi Steve,

er, no. It needs to be in menus 3 and 4 for the side menus. The side menus use ordinary text links instead of the button-style links.

regards,

Martin.
