You can literally become another member of your forum and operate as them on the forum. That does not mean you actually post of do anything under that person, but it give you the ability to become that person if you want. currently to "unbecome" the member you log out and then log back in under your name

Thanks for the information TVDinner. Now I can see what it does but why would I want to do that?

In the past I have become a member to move a post they made and keep it under their name. Or on some forums they don't like/allow people to double post back to back so you can combine posts and keep under the same name, etc.

I use it to test problems others say they have with log ins and posting.

It helped me diagnose the fact that certain characters in the user name affect the ability to navigate and post.

All the username problems will be cured in the next version.

OK I see that now. I could have used that facility quite a few times on the old forum. Thanks Jim.

I do it same as Jim. If they can't post, I just login as them and make a test post. Once they see me do that, they know the problem is at their end (cookie usually) and not a forum bug.

I think I have most of the admin control panel sussed now but I don't even want to think about the cpanel. On Siteground I had just about got used to changing the logo and making a backup of the forum database. Fortunately I can change the logo from the admin control panel on here so I can thankfully forget about cpanel for awhile. If I do have to get involved then I shall come screaming for help to you good people.

If you set permissions for certain areas, you may want to see what they can see under their name.
