What are the birthday and registration dates for at the bottom of the mass e-mail page?

It's for refining how many members get the mass email Robert, so all the members of the usergroup you are mailing don't all get sent mail at once. I'd advise using mass email wisely if you have a big membership. I only used it once and sent an email to I think 9,000 members for a poll I was running when I had the forum facelifted with bouttimes new theme. They all tried to login around the same time and crashed the forum and it ran slow for a day or so until the rush was over.

Thanks for the information. Our membership will never go into the thousands or even one thousand so I don't think I will have a problem. Presumably if I just tick the registered box and leave the other choices, birthdays etc, as they are then the e-mail will go out to all registered members.

I use the various options to narrow down my members to get the emails that are meant just for them. For example, our profile fields include filling out which expansion packs they have. Then when we run contests we send the email to those people who have that expansion pack... I also use it to send out invites or updates to my staff... Very handy!

Good idea Robert. You can also choose to jut email one usergroup at a time and leave a day or three between them so you don't get a bottleneck when they login. The mass email facility has a lot of options for any admin to get it just right for their own board.

You'll notice if you create custom profiles that are either checkbox or drop down options, that you can send mass emails to those people as well. We use it for users that selected certain reasons why they signed up to just send emails to those interested in specific things.
