I think I ran into a problem. I tried to do a backup from the admin panel and all I get is a 0 bytes file.

Probably because your database is too large.

Nope it looks like it isn't working. Probably some obscure server setting I need to throw the switch on, I'll work on it but in the mean time simply do not worry.... this server makes daily, weekly and monthly backups of all the files and the database.
