I prefer the vertical WAY over the horizontal Jim.  That horizontal looks, well, sloppy.  I honestly don't know if you were trying to be funny? If you weren't my apologies! I just can't imagine anyone wanting something like that on their board.  Besides, it's easier to read  a short, vertical list IMO.

LOL.  guess I don't have to tell you which one I want installed? :)

Very few actually require the use of sub forums. Many users just think they need them because other sites have them.

All IMO.

different strokes for different folks. I think subforums are great, They make easier navigation for lengthy comprehensive forums(like mine). Good JOb, BOB.

I agree sealine. My claims site could use them but my other sites do not need them. Depends on the topic of the board. But a lot of people think just because one site has them, they need them too when in fact it makes their board cluttered.

Will this be available for people with normal wowbb Ver. 1.7 also.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Yes it will, along with several other mods. As I explained on another site:

A lot of our more complicated mods have evolved from when we stepped out till now, meaning they are different from the originals.
As most of you know we offer professional quality mods and stand behind our work 100%. We have many new ones and a few big surprises under development. Here is the deal-
  • The more complicated mods will not be free. You don't have to go there if this bothers you.
  • We can not guarantee these mods will be compatible with future releases of WowBB.
  • We do guarantee the mod will work exactly as we describe and will not interfere with the normal functions of WowBB.
  • We install the mod on your site. There are 100 reasons for this but basically it is a lot harder to nurse someone through  code changes they are not familiar with that to do it ourselves. That will require at some point in a private forum  for the customer to give us their FTP info. If that scares you then don't go there.  We have been proven trustworthy and even people that don't like us can't say we are dishonest.
  • There will be free themes and premium themes at a reasonable cost available. We have taken on a partner to help in theme development to offset Di and mines busy schedule and upcoming child.
We will be doing this through our Data 1 Systems and WowUltra sites.

Thank you for your interest!

Jim & Di

HOWEVER if you were to own a WowUltra license and were running a WowUltra board, all the mods will be incorporated into the software, and we will service what we sell. If it's our approved themes and our approved software we will service it. Any new mods will get added to the software. One price and you get all the mods and all future ones.. and you get me to service it for free. I may not be the "nicest" guy in the world but you have to know by now that I am learning a few tricks.

I have to give a lot of credit to my wife also, who doesn't let me skid too far off the path and actually suggests most of the mods based on boards we have ran for many years now. I guess you could call us a team :).

what if you have a test board created before subforums were finalized? will you still be able to play around with the subforums before making your choice?

Give me the name of your test board and I'll install the upgrade to Ultra 1.10 :)

After I install it here of course!

Jim;
sorry if this is the wrong thread to post this in, but I was unable to post in the thread with the new pictures of the subforums.

first off - congrats on getting this almost done. very exciting for many of us who have been interested in subforums for a long time.

In the announcement thread you posted a new picture showing the subforums listed horizontally.

Is something like the picture below possible with the mod you are working on? I would never ever list this many and this is an extreme example, but wanted to show you.

Thanks

It's possible and I'll try it after I get the software updated. I bet they can be lined up a little better :)

Of course forum name would have a hand in shaping it but you could have the forum name cut off at X amount of characters and have a few dots...

thanks! while you are updating it, can you reset the Ultra theme back to it's default...? I was playing around trying to figure out how to bring some elements of the old theme over, and I don't really like what I did and I can't seem to fix it...

You have been upgraded to WowUltra 1.10, and I believe I did reset the ultra theme but please check it out. I will write a tutorial on sub forums soon but if you go in admin panel/ forums tab it is very easy to figure out. :)
