I saw this topic in a forum that I don't have access to, but am trying to find out what is up with the support forums for WoWBB?

I know they have been off-line in admin only mode for almost a week now if not more.

I asked in private support if the forums were down for a revamp or permanently down and this is the reply I got.

We have no information to offer about the public forums at this time.
I then said it would have been nice to let their paying customers know what was happening and was told that paying customers are actually directed to private support when they sign up and that was still available.

At the end of it all I was as wise as ever and we decided to move here.

I think Aycan should have sent a mass-mail to all members telling them that public support forum was closing.

Whoops I'd forgoten about that Di. Well Paragon, the WOW forum has been taken down and no information available as to whether it will ever be back. Some of us have found a new home here for getting and sharing information and some of us switched to Ultra and/or the Ultra servers. The servers are very reliable and fast here even for large forums and the support is the best I've ever had. Ultra is WOW much improved and you will be able to see this yourself if you grab a trial forum.

Regards,
Steve.

Oh, I know. I have been here for awhile. Jim had always been great to me. I know longer host a WoWBB board as I pulled our server down. Data 1, however, was my first choice when I moved a friend's site that I was hosting on our server. He uses SMF, though.

I see everything with WowBB has been shut down. Did WowBB go out of business or something? I can’t even access my forum anymore. I’m wondering if I will be able to move it to another server. Been checking this WowUltra out and it’s looking good.

Your forum is showing for me Hyper, the front page shows a post made by someone today. Nice Theme btw.
I can understand your worry though. With the WOW board gone now any small glitch will make people think disaster has struck (especially as it's Friday 13th) and they can't go to the WOW board and see what the problem is, so it's a big loss imho.
If you do decide to come overe here, you will notice a big improvement in speed and stability and the hosting prices are very good. Jim moves the forums over very quickly and is available a lot of the time if you have questions.

btw, if one googles wowbb/forums then scroll down and click "show similar results"
you get some hits from wow's forum, if you click on the "cache" link you'll see that page. not sure how much use that is to anyone but..........just in case it helps someone.

Thanks everyone. I guess it’s my ISP then. Yesterday a tree came down on my cable and took out my service. The soonest they can fix it is Monday. So I signed up with NetZero to have internet until my cable is fixed. With NetZero I can’t connect to my forum or any forum on Wow’s servers. That’s why I thought WowBB went out of business. I didn’t realize the problem was on my end. I don’t know if the problem is with NetZero or Wow’s servers. I remember people saying some ISPs can’t connect to Wow’s servers. I’m not sure how I can correct this situation.
I’ve been thinking about switching to WowUltra for awhile now. I’ve just been waiting to see what the new version of Wow is going to be like. It looks like I’ll have to switch sooner than I thought. How soon do you think you could switch my forum over?

Correction: I discovered Explorer is the problem. For some reason I can’t connect to Wow’s servers with Explorer but I can with Firefox. That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.

can you connect to any site using IE? if not then then click on the "file" menu and see if "work off line" is checked. if it is uncheck it.

Switching speed would depend on where your "domain name" is held at. If you have control of it through a third party and can change the nameservers. If you can then it can be less tan 24 hours. If your name was bought with hosting through Wow then we have to apply for a transfer and sometimes that can take up to 10 days! We could do it immediately if you selected a new domain name.

I'm hoping you have control of your domain name?

Hehe...glad to see others have found there way here too.

This place has been Zen-like for me at times, even during some harsh days when I still hosted myself on my own server.

In fact, I think Jim an Di need to change the name of their product from WoWUltra to WoW-Zen...or Zen-WoW. :q

I can connect to lots of sites with IE7 but not to any on Wow’s servers. I suspect that somehow the problem is related to NetZero because I never had a problem with IE7 when I was using Comcast.
